While pulling my engine for a rebuild I noticed 2 of the three bolts on my converter were chipped. After pulling it completely I noticed I have a good size hole in the bell housing. I figured a new bellhousing and converter since the trans runs and shifts fine.
Now today I noticed a big pool of trans fluid underneath the truck. Upon inspection the leak is coming from the passenger side above the pan. From what I can tell maybe its a plug or breather thats supposed to be there? It feels like it may be threaded. Round shaped hole. Can anybody help me out with what part I may need? Or should I just surf craigslist for a new trans?

Auto Trans? What kind? Did you pull the dipstick tube?

There are two threaded holes on the passenger side of a TH350 that are for transmission cooling lines that run to the radiator with metal tubing. Mine leaked a little when I first got my truck. They just needed to be tightened a turn and a half.

Sorry, its an automatic 350 trans on a shortbed 2wd. I didn't pull the dipstick or any other lines. When it was all hooked up nothing leaked, it shifted fine, absolutely no problems from it. There were no lines hooked up to it before I'm sure. I was underneath mocking up my exhaust setup before I pulled the engine and know there weren't any lines there. Is there a reference somewhere with a pic and all the parts listed for the transmission? I'd hate to get rid of it for just a small part or something easy to fix.

It's that red plug in place of a manual transmissions shifter by looking at other pictures. I've looked for correct name and replacement part for it but I can't find anything. :-\

That's where the transmission dipstick tube goes. There should be a seal with a lip in the hole and then the dipstick tube slides in to it
