Title: Drive Shaft Length
Post by: williebm3 on March 29, 2011, 01:30:17 pm
Are the driveshafts for a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton with a 700R4 and 208 the same length? Was thinking about this and wondering if one from a 1/2 ton would be long enough to make up for a 4" lift on a 3/4 ton? any input would help. I know that I would have to use a different u-joint.

Truck has a TH 350 and 203 in it now. Taking 700R4 and 208 out of another truck and putting it in. I do have the drive shafts from the donor truck but the drive shaft was only in the 208 maybe 1 1/4" so with the lift I was wondering about different lengths of shafts.

I could be wrong, but I believe they are the same length, If I'm wrong someone will chime in.

You posted while I was, easiest way is to measure the length you need and see if yours will work.

Thanks, but was trying to start looking while I was in part getting phase. I was just wondering as I know the corp 10 bolt would be shorter on the pinion than on the 14 bolt. Thought I could find one of them and then just put a conversion u-joint in it.

I want to say it will work. My bud has a k5 10 bolt and swapped it out for a d40 and full floater that I gave him. Now it did have a4" lift before the swap I'm sure the drive shaft was stock with only 4" lift

Drive shaft is 52 3/4" center of joint to center of joint. Would like to get one about 54 to 54 1/2", and was wondering if anyone would mind measuring their 1/2 ton with a 700 and 208 I would appreciate it.

Thanks for any input.
