Title: Side mount Gas tanks
Post by: 756man on April 10, 2011, 09:15:42 pm
Can anybody tell me the difference between the 73-86' fuel tanks and the 87' tanks for TBI trucks?

I'm not positive, but I know the sending units will be different, someone like capt. or vile could answer your question directly, if they don't see this in a couple of days pm them and make sure your in box is not full.  ( they kinda get irritated when you ask and they can not reply )

I believe they have baffels in them also to prevent splashing around of fuel.  I could be wrong though.

I know in my '90 the fuel pump is in the tank.

You can use the tank.  Some on here have recommended just keeping the fuel level from getting too low as the tank will not have a fuel baffle in it like the '87.  The tanks from a SWB and a LWB are different sizes, though.

They have a baffle but you can run it without.
