Does anyone own a Colorado/canyon? I am graduating college at the end of the month and i am looking for a fuel efficient small truck. I have yet to test drive one. what are your thoughts from a driver and a mechanic perspective. looking at a 4cyl auto(girlfriend cant drive stick) most likely a crew cab 2wd but possibly 4wd if i get a good enough deal so unlikely haha
Thanks in advance

You could get a new girlfriend or teach her, It will save some gas and a maybe a little from the initial cost.
I haven't owned one of these but would love to hot rod one, possibly my next project if funds ever allow.

I had a new 06 colorado until 2008 when I traded it for my Dodge Magnum. It was a 5 cyl 2wd crew cab. I would drive 500 miles one way home and then another 500 back to my duty station. I would get almost 300 miles until I had to fill up again so I would say decent mileage for the size. If your looking for the 4 cyl I would expect better. I changed the intake and dropped it 3/5 so I don't know if that had anything to do with the mileage. I compare the ride to any new silverado or sierra. ALOT better than an S10! As far as mechanics its just as easy as any other chevy. I'm sure you can find a good deal on a used one, though the new z71 colorado has me wanting to trade my magnum back!!! Hope that helps some.

I have been trying to get my girlfriend to drive stick, but she is too good to me to trade her in over something simple like that. I haven't seen too many crew cab sticks anyways and i wont be ordering brand new. The new z71's look sweet but they are in the 45k range, up here brand new that's like 30k more than I'm looking to spend haha. I am just looking for a stock reliable vehicle that will get me or my girlfriend to and from work, only 15 min drive one way. Chevy thing what was your mpg?

My wife drives a 05 crew cab Z71 with the 5cly & auto. It gets 20mpg with out the ac running. They re-placed the head at about 48k at no cost to me. They said it dropped a valve, but it only showed a check engine light. truck still ran fine.

i have a 4x4 5 cylinder/auto that is lifted on 31's and i average low to mid 20's and the old man has a 2x4 4 cylinder/auto and is getting mid to upper 20's both are regular cabs tho so less weight than what you want.

next question how much room is in the back seat? I am not expecting that of a full size crew cab, but would it be comparable to a full size ext cab? possible to fit 4 adults? I guess i need to go take a test drive next week.
