well i got my 85 bed put on my 76 and i want to remove the trim i know some of it is taped on but some is bolted right? and can i weld up the holes with a fluxcore mig and sand them down smooth or will it warp the panels i know i need to turn the welder down some just curious dont want to mess up my new bed
-
There are other threads with this same topic, you can weld, bondo, or old school with lead, or even new epoxy's I hear work. My recomendation is to first " dimple " the area so you have something to band to and it is alot easier to fill and get the body lines back.

My '77 bed only has bolts at the front and rear, everything in the middle is adhesive.
-
i welded up the holes how did you get the adhesive tape off
-
Dang dude, I wish I could get a weld done that fast! Nice work. As for the adhesive, I just used my thumbnail but my paint job is whacked anyway. On my "nice" cars, I use the 3M Stripe Removal Tool and a corded drill. Here's a video of me removing an ugly pinstripe. This wheel is amazing and will never damage your paint. Just use a little polish afterward and you're good to go.

yea i had to weld up 4 holes 2 on each side under the tail lights and 8 holes 4 on each side from some old bed rails that had been on there before i got the bed if anyone else is doing it its not that bad just weld a little then stop for a minute then do some more mine came out fine after a little grinding next up is in the cab along edges like at the edge of the floormats is rusted out so if Mr. Chris knows what im talking about maybe he could put some replacements on here and ill cut and weld on that some on my days off 21days off is nice but 21 on sure does drag by at least i can plan what im gonna do next
-
21 on 21 off? What do you do for a living?
