I've decided to either mothball my swb project or find a RWD Suburban to focus my attention on. (family man, would rather drive a Burb than a caravan) Boy, did these things get scarce!! If anyone has a decent one to restore in Southern Ontario, let me know!

i have not seen anything decent. half the stuff i've have seen is already "built" and seems to be some what over priced for what you are getting. other half of the stuff i have seen is rotted and they still want 4-5 grand. i have seen a cc drw on kijiji for around 4 if you wanna check that out. I have been considering importing something when i get some cash saved up. plus road trips are always exciting haha

Come on down here to texas, they are a dime a dozen here!

thanks Cdn 4x4, I agree...they must have all head for the crusher. I did see a bad black crew cab dually with a for sale sign on it going the other way on the highway...too much coin and too much truck for my needs though. I saw a sweet silver & black 91 on kijiji...but it was in quebec :(

If you are talking about good clean older Suburbans you are right. I have been looking for one for about a year. I'm beginning to think I may have to buy one and re-do it. I have had a few over the years. I found a pic of my last one, I had about 15yrs. ago. Now I wish i had kept it.

Then just switch it over to your home brewed fuel sgtdel.

i think part of the problem is that Ontario just isn't the best place for older iron(or newer iron for that matter). These 73-91ers are very durable vehicles as you well know---i think they are the most popular used vehicle sold on craigslist in my neck of the woods.
If you think suburbans are scarce, try finding a chevette---and they were produced for 11 years!

And even if it does, these things are capable of 30 mpg. With a few mods done to the 6.2 diesel engine on my 1982 Suburban, it gets 30 mpg on the freeway. Yes it's slow, but it gets me where I want to go without breaking the bank.

I found about 20 of these Suburbans many in good shape at a junkyard here in San Antonio.

I'd look south for something that runs, fly down drive back. I did it with a 48 fleetline I bought for my dad, it was his 50th birthday present.

I found it hard finding 73-78 models. But if you hold out some will pop up. I just found mine in fresno cAlifornia

I found my sub (http://www.delbridge.net/suburban) in Arizony--rust free from the desert. Didn't mind one bit to pay for an air fare to fly there from Virginny and drive back across the country.
