Title: Question about diesels
Post by: Gearhead1 on April 18, 2011, 09:33:22 am
I might be looking at a '91 suburban with a 6.2 diesel in it...I know nothing about them (or diesels in general).
Are they any good?
can I swap a 5.7 in its place if it's junk? (will the trans bolt up etc)
Any suggestions on what I should watch out for?
thanks

trans will bolt up.  The 6.2 is mainly for mileage, its kind of a slug but you can expect much better fuel economy than say a 305 even.  Pretty good towing engine low end power and all just depends on what you are looking to do with it.  Watch out for glow plugs and starters I hear they are expensive.

I thought I had heard they were not your typical stump pulling diesel
