Title: Stopped by my engine builder this morning and........
Post by: TxFiddler on April 21, 2011, 01:19:59 pm
The 427 is just about ready for its new home.  It was all wrapped up so not too much detail here but I will definitely follow up with better pics.  I think of this as a "teaser".

Nice. What are the specs on the motor?

It's a 427 with Edelbrock RPM airgap intake, hydraulic roller cam custom ground (mild), steel crank, icon pistons, Edelbrock aluminum heads, Crane gold roller rockers.  My builder mainly builds dirt track race motors now but he's been machining for 35 yrs.  He's very meticulous and thourough.  He says that based on his experience, the motor should do about 450 hp and 450 tq. Close to 10-1 compression. Fortunately, he has been backed up for about 6 months so I have been able to "rat hole" the $.  If I had to spend all this at once, I would probably kill over!  Oh well, cheaper than pmts and the truck should run like a champ. I'll publish more details after I pick it up.

Hey ccz145a,
That's cool.  I notice that you are in Friendwood.  I'm in Montgomery.  Maybe the long lost brothers were seperated early on.  ;D

I dunno Zieg.  Guess I'll have to wait and see.  I might have to get out the ol' "duck" tape and vise grips....that'll fix anything.  :D

That is a beautiful looking motor and a luck truck that is going to get it.  Don't forget to take pics of the build.  Hopefully it goes smooth!
