Has anyone changed an early (pre-87) truck from carburetor to throttle body? If so, I assume you need the computer and harness, the throttle body system and an elect. fuel pump. What else?. Would it be worth the trouble, if I could find a good used set-up? I have had a few 87 models that ran good and got decent mileage. My truck's gas mileage is starting to wear on me. Thanks, Randy

Yes I have done it. Check out my mutt project. Is your engine stock?

It is a stock GM Goodwrench 350 with headers. After I changed intakes and swapped out the old Q-jet for an Edel 600, my gas mileage sucks. I'm going to go to a 700r4 later and maybe try a different carb, but I like the idea of the throttle body. Was it worth the trouble? Could you lead me to the mutt project? Thanks, Randy

You can find vile's mutt project here. http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=6233.0. Or search under members rides for mutt.
