Will a 35 12.5 fit on a narrower rim? Not sure what mine are, but I know
There not a true 12.5 rim

You can put them on 8" wides, but 10" wides look better.

12.5 on the tire does not mean they need a 12.5" rim. That number means the tread width is 12.5". The rim itself is smaller, I have heard of people mounting that tire on 9" rims, though I would be safe and use at least a 10" rim.

I mounted 33 12.50 on 6.75" wide rims, you have a huge range of acceptable rims widths. Use the rim width to to help fit the tire without rubbing. Every .5" change in rim width, the section width will change .25" roughly. Just don't get rims that are too much wider than your tire or you'll have bead seating problems.
