Hey guys....been working on the inside of my cab. getting it ready for summer. Ran into a little problem tonight. Went to install new dash. After a little loving....its in. However, I have not figured out where the last screw on the left side of the dash goes. I'm thinking it has something to do with my dash bezel, but no luck. Please help. I'll try to get some pictures together tomorrow. I'm also having problems trying to reinstall the dash bezel as well.

First thought, a lot of people on here have bought aftermarket dashes and were not happy at all with them. Maybe the new dash had 1 less hole.
-
Its supposed to be screwed in at the bottom left of the dash. Supposed to hold it in place. But not sure exactly how it goes. and yes it is an aftermarket dash.
-
whats the best way to post pictures on the forum
-
I use photobucket and link it that way
-
k...here's a link to the pics of the dash.

I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong, but I believe that area is suppose to have a clip that holds it in not a screw.
-
Take it back out. You don't have the clips engaged into the slots on the metal frame.

what website did u get that dash from? really clean look

I've taken it out a couple times and reinstalled. I think the dash shrunk while it was being cooled. Its as if the dash is just a little to small for the truck and the accessories. Talked to the supplier yesterday. They're supposed to get back with me on Monday.

got it from the site recommended here at the forum

Take the dash back out. Remove the mounting clips and see if it lays in flush. If it does that means the dash is fine, you are just not engaging the slots in the metal frame when you are installing it.

Will do this afternoon.....Did u notice in the pics that the trim for the right side of the dash is longer than the actual dash itself. That and having major difficulties getting the dash bezel in is making me think the dash is to small.

Is this dash rubbery and floppy or is it solid like the factory dash. In other words if you remove the dash pad and are holding it will it flop or is it solid? If it's the rubbery blob dashes direct pad it will not fit right and you may as well return it before it's too late. They are garbage and will not fit right.
-
yep its rubbery and floppy.....what's your recommendation for a new dash?
-
Eww, Return it. According to what I've heard from Chris is they make this one he sells that is almost as good as GM. http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=7&Product_Code=D100181&Category_Code=DC
Then there's the GM dashes which you may be able to locate through a dealer or find an NOS one kicking around (Craigslist/eBay). You can restore your factory one if you aren't picky but it will never be as good as a replacement. Chris may have some factory pads left as well if you check with him.
The dashes direct one you have might be good for a farm truck or a beater but it's nothing I would ever use.

Thanks for the advice....Guess I should've asked around or done more research before hand. I hope they'll give me my money back.
-
I'm sure they will. Just explain the fitment and quality is nowhere near your standards and let them know it's a product that does not meet the expectations of thei customers. If they give you a hard time, file a complaint with your credit card company and the better business bureau.
-
Good news.....company going to give me a full refund! Also, who is the best person to contact about the dashes sold here at the forum?
-
Hit the banner on top of the page. Capt. koas ( chris ) is the owner of the site and store.

I also bought one of those rubbery blobs, thinking I was saving some money. No way would it fit right. I should have done some more reading before I purchased it. Going to buy one from Chris now.
