Title: My new project
Post by: Gilby959798 on April 30, 2011, 02:47:57 pm
As some of you might remember, I had an 86 K10 lifted on 38"s. Well I sold that since I was kinda done with what I wanted to do with it and finally got the next project delivered to my door.

It needs a ton of work body wise but mechanically the truck is very sound... 77 GMC Camper Special that I/We inherited from her family... and now the pics... :)

I like how it sits. It looks mean. What does it have for drivetrain?

I like the 77 year the best, that year they started with several options that makes these trucks better in my opinion.  I am going to be following the build up, hopefully you can restore to like new.

It will definitely be a long build... between getting married this year (she is the reason we got the truck so I have to keep her :-P) and the money it is going to take to completely finish the truck I dont foresee this being done for at least 5 years... For now I will use the truck as a truck, around the house to move stuff or to bring in some gravel for the driveway. the plan is to strip it down the the frame and redo the wiring, fuel lines, brake lines and spray the frame, go through the drive train. I would like to put a 6spd manual in place of the 4spd manual that is in it. I plan to just get a southern 2wd truck to repair this one unless I can find a bed that is in really good shape up here. I think the rest of the truck could be fixed fairly easily it new parts. It will probably stay the yellow that it is now, although I might try to brighten it up a bit providing someone lets me.

sounds like a plan. thats the fun part man, working on it over a span of time.  saving money,  searching for parts,  meeting people along the way, working in garage.  good times.  and i couldnt agree more...keeping that yellow color is awesome.

Nice, it does sit nice and straight.  I like the beefy sway bar that comes with the camper special, looks like you have a keeper.
