that is just wrong, my favorite trucks are by far the 73-87 body style followed by the 88-98 but even those I feel weren't as tough. But the 2000's trucks in my opinion are just blah, generic, and in general wimpy looking.  I don't know what the GVW's of those truck were but man I feel like GM kinda went in the wrong way even after the 87 model year I mean Independent Front Suspension on a 1 ton 4x4?? I dunno i have never owned anything but a couple of 73-87's but I really wonder about those 2000's trucks although it seems like the newer ones are pretty nice comparatively but still not as tough as ours and to top it all off you can't get a stick with them, it's barley a truck unless its got a clutch if you ask me.

People will buy just about anything if it has a price tag on it...

If your building a budget race truck that will have very little stock left it is cheaper to start with a with an older frame.  I also know guys who have been running the same trucks for years and you can get it to look like a new truck for a couple grand of fiberglass and paint over rebuilding a new truck.  Most desert trucks are so little stock it doesn't even matter anyway.  It is easier to get sponsors to get on board and some of the contingencies require vehicles to be (or resemble) late model vehicles.

On a related question, do they make prerunner fenders and bedsides for the 73-87 body style?  I don't know that I have seen one.

All that being said, I agree that face was a low point for Chevy trucks.

Here is an example.  Hill Holmes truck is a 73ish that has had a couple different bodies on.  Sponsors like new and shiney.  This was in the Bilstein booth at SEMA this year.

I actually like that front end more than the current offering, the 03-06 is an improvement for say a 99-03 nose, but I'd never do that to a square

I'd do it!!! I'd just throw the cadillac conversion on the front! The escalade style would fit better and It would have to be slammed or lowered a good few. That job looks really really sloppy but could be fixed.

HA just kiddin, I like the cadillac conversions but its not meant for our trucks at all!!! I've seen our year trucks with the 95 front end on it. It was at a 4 wheel parts place. Looked like it belonged.

You want to Caddy swap a square? Throw in a 500 and an emblem on the front. I've come close to doing that myself.

I like the goal but not the result.  First of all, I'd want it sheetmetal, not fibreglass.  Second, not these totally weird lookin fenders.  Now granted, this is an 88-98, but he did it the proper way and I think it could be done to a 81-87.  Pretty much just molding the grill and the end of the hood to fit your body style's fenders/hood.

That Blazer isn't my thing, but dang, you cannot help but admire clean work.  I wish my paint job looked that good.  He probably didn't spray it in his carport LOL.

I have seen a few really clean Caddy conversions.  Personally, I wouldn't mind a big sqaured off pre runner fenders to compliment the 73-87 body style.

That green front end thing makes me think of the wife's Equinox...and even tho it's a Chevy... I think it's one of the worst engineered pieces of crap I've ever owned  :(
