Its been brought up a few times, but I think we need to get on the task of making something that we can pass out to other square body owners, like a business card. We don't need to actually make business cards because those are expensive. What I was thinking was making some sort of design, logo, etc with the web address on it and a little something that says who we are, what we do. I like the banner at the top of the page, but that isn't mine (need permission). We could take the design and repeat it multiple times so when each of you print it, all you have to do is cut them out and pass them out, maybe in a Microsoft Word document as well as a version that works for Mac users. Something where all you have to do is download it and print, or print from the site.
OK so first we would need permission from Capt to host this on his site, and maybe the rest of the moderators?
Secondly, if the idea is a go, you can submit your own design, keeping in mind copyright legality, and we can either vote on one design, or host a few options to allow each of you to print out the design you like, as long as each design has all the same information. I think the text in the banner logo is fine, but need a OK to use it.

That is a great idea. It would bring more sales to Chris and expand the community if they joined the forum. I would print out cards and hand them out. Another squarebody owner stopped me in the fast food drive thru just the other day to check out my pickup and wanted to know where I got this and that.

I was thinking of just printing some text, because that is all the skill I have, but I think something a little more flashy would be more appropriate and inviting for something left on a windshield or handed to someone.

The lady at my work prints our business cards. I'm not sure how the original picture and text is made but if you open the file you can print multiple cards on that special serrated card stock. If somebody came up with something like that anybody could download it and print them.

ya that is a option to add if members want to do that, but I would like to see the option of keeping the cost to a sheet of paper and cut it out yourself.
-
I actually pm chris about that about a week ago, just haven't heard anything from him, in fact I haven't seen any post from him since the tornados went through there.
Actually beastie I included all the points you brought up, thats kinda weird.

Actually if it were my website, I would make a site supporter subscription be an order for a box of business cards for the supporter to be able to pass out.
-
Anyone know how much cards run?
I would like to see a site sticker with a subscription.
-
Last I bought business cards, a rack of 500 was $22 bucks.

I like this idea, it would really expand our online family. these would be great to pass out at swap meets and car shows. I do have some news from Chris, i emailed him the other day about my weatherstripping and this is what he told me: He just got internet back and is really involved in helping cleanup the aftermath, so it will be a while before he's back. But if you need to contact him, Email go straight to his phone.

I guess that's what I meant is that anybody can do it then, and it's not too spendy to buy a small trial pack of the card paper that's already precut, or cut it out yourself with regular sheets. Either way is pretty convenient for us members to be able to reproduce it on paper if there would be a file that we could just open and print like a picture (you members out there that have mad computer skills ;D). I think this idea could really generate some more business and expand the knowledge base and site community by spreading the word.

ah i see, like using a business card template on Microsoft Word?
-
Yeah, at work she has sheets that she puts in the regular printer and then she opens the business card file and puts it in an array where it has 8 or so on the sheet and just hits print and then you just tear the paper and you have the little cards. When she puts in that paper she tells everybody else NOT to print anything until she's done.

Chris has no internet other than his phone. The storms here in Alabama have left a mess of things and will take a week or more
for things to get back in some kind of order. Chris has sent me a file for business cards to up load, however at this time I am having trouble up-loading it to the site.

Those are cool. If he wants all of us to pass out those with his name and address on it, then that would be ok. I would just see a issue if someone didnt want to find one on their windshield and Chris got a call. At least without the phone number, he wouldnt get the call.
I think ill modify it personally so when I pass them out, it will only have the web address, which will still lead them to the store and forum. Now, if Chris doesnt mind all of us using those, then topic closed, and that link should be posted a little easier?
-
I don't mind anyone using those and if you want to remove the number that is fine. I just realized I haven't updated the document in a while and the number should be 205-202-0875. Removing it is fine. Maybe put your Site ID on the back or something.
Now, where is the best place for this.. A new topic in this forum?
-
id vote for somewhere everyone will see it without having to remember where it is.
Maybe near the banner or add a link where the "Home Help Search Profile My Messages Calendar Donations Members Gallery Logout" tabs are.
