my truck had a early morning visitor via the rear slider last night and claimed my cd player and subs and rearranged my dash for me. so b4 i start over anyone have an alarm they have and recommand? it sucks getting ripped off but really sucks when its by someone thats not very bright. taking the deck i can see, but when theres also 2 new rockford amps and set of new rf power components ready for the taking he's more in favour of carrying my cheap sony subs and box down the street

I would rather pay for a new stereo every four or five years, then listen to a gd'n alarm go off every time the wind blows. I've currently got a factory alarm on my 04 SuperDuty. It goes off twice a week for nothing. I just need to take it back to the dealer and have them rip it out.

if it was a 4 or 5 year old stereo i wouldnt care, however it was a 1200 dollar loss for equipment that was bought new 4 months ago. but regardless had a viper responder unit installed yday. cd and sub shopping on the weekend. btw if anyone has the jvc model with the 3.5" screen let me know how its worked out for ya so far.

you might have gotten one already, but i would suggest a pager alarm. there are only a few actual manufacturers of them, just tons of diff names. i got a generic, made in china, $80 remote start/pager alarm and put it in my gfs car, and i have to say, for $80 i was impressed. i can hear her arm/disarm/start/etc, on the spare remote in the bedroom when she is at the gas station 2 miles away. the pager feature is also VERY nice because you can disarm the siren and just the remote will alert you, in case you, or the police, want to suprise the intruder. as far as the alarm going off every strong wind, just disable the shock sensor, or set it so its not so sensitive. also might want to consider a radar attachment since the rear windows are an easy target. when looking at an alarm, you might want to consider the diff trigering types as well. if you have a voltage trigger, if your dome light is out then it wont go off.if you have only a pin switch it wont go off when they come in through the window. better alarms have multiple "trips". just some things to think about.

Well, my alarm system is made by smith and wesson, it is a model 65 357 magnum 4 inch barrell. I have a back up alarm, Glock model 22 40 cal. semi auto.

They don't make them anymore, but I've always liked Alpine alarms. I also liked the 2 Ungo Box alarms I had as well. A good paging alarm is made by Clifford. Another popular one is Compustar.

ended up with a viper model with a bunch of additional add ons ill prob never install. the keyless entry is nice tho. weird as it may be, can bouce the truck by jumping on rear bumper and alarm wont make a peep, but my roomate drives within 30' with his prostreet bb truck and my alarm will go off. go figure.

Vipers not bad, one of the "higher end" DEI alarms. DEI makes about 100 diff alarms and packages them with diff names. Its funny, places like best buy were selling a certian clifford ( another DEI) for $500 with "free" install, and I was getting the same alarm for $200. The same thing packaged as Viper was $175. Nice "free" install there. Back to topic, just make sure you put in the motion sensor to protect against the rear window. There should be an option to disable the shock sensor to keep it from going off when someone drives past, or it just may not be set right.

i noticed that bout dei and there many brands too. it was my first alarm install so i imagine i have sensitivety setting all the way. i bought one of them parimider sensors as well as glass breakage, but think thatd be a lil overkill so never put them in. im goina try the shock setting like u said and hope ppl with glasspacks will stop tripping alarm
