Title: Parking brake light bulb
Post by: snibook7537 on May 12, 2011, 11:33:43 pm
Hello all, I have gotten around to fixing a few dead lights in the dash and noticed that the parking brake indicator light ( next to the seat belt not the big round one on some base level trucks) was missing a light.  I then replaced it with one from my parts truck and noticed that it just popped out but it is connected to a black and green wire with a white connector and the wire goes to the ash tray area with a clear plastic plug thing.  The white plastic clip broke so I just put a regular style black lamp just like any of the other ones in there but I am curious as to what this thing is for.  It seems like it wouldn't make any contact because of the plastic and I am unsure as to what it does.  The wire that connects it doesn't seem to make any connections at all but I know there is one like it in the Junkyard I am going to buy next time I'm there. Anybody have any clue what this does? My 86 had a regular bulb and my 87 has this wire attached to it, however in the junk yard there is a 79 that is set up like mine but I forgot to grab that one so next time I go I'll get it.  It just doesn't look like it could make a contact for anything and even if it did wouldn't it only go on when I have the parking break on?

Thanks Vince
