Ok this isnt 73-87 but i have a 94 chevy 1500 with 305. the power steering is whining at an idle and i can hear it in 1st and 2nd. The whine does not increase when turning the wheel. Should I try bleeding it? is there common problems with the tbi?

sounds like the pump is going. The same sound will happen when the belt tensioner bearings are about to go too, so, be sure it is the pump.
-
how much work is it to change the tensioner?
-
is there a way to regrease this?
-
they're usually sealed units. AFter removing the belt, You'd have to look at it. I don't know the setup of a 94, but, there should be a pulley with bearings. There should be a bolt through the middle or the spring bracket that is held by 2 or 3 bolts..you'd have to look at it. Still, it could be your p.s pump. Be sure prior to replacing things.

doesnt sound like its coming from the power steering side so i'll take the belt off tomorrow and see whats up.
