Title: Went to the mud pit this evening!
Post by: Psycho71 on May 23, 2011, 09:01:22 pm
I thought my wife was taking some pics, but she FORGOT! Oh well. I was impressed with the burb overall, even though I didn't make it all the way thru the pit. Had it up to the rockers, and about half way through the pit before she quit moving forward. The impressive part to me, and everyone else out there, I actually backed her all the way back out of the pit on her own. Everyone said I was the first to ever do that after getting bogged down. I knew I needed some lockers, but now I know just how bad. I think I could have made it through the pit with all 4 turning at the same time. I'll gt some pics next time for sure.

The only carnage I experienced is now there is a decent tranny leak from the torque converter area when i shut it off. It quits after a minute or so, but it is obviously something that needs to be dealt with. Fresh rebuilt tranny too, kinda sux but I suppose it could have been much worse.

Just had to share with someone. I'm proud of her after her maiden voyage through the mud.

if it leaks only when it is off, I'd say you have a cracked torque converter.  Drains out when the pump isn't pumping.  Does it take a few seconds of accelerating when you first turn the engine on and put it in gear before she moves?--allowing time for the torque converter to fill back up when pump is on.

OK, well I didn't throw all this on there by hand. LOL

And no, she takes right off when put in gear. Whatever it is, it's in the front, so I'll have to take the tranny out to fix it. So out it'll come, when I get the time. It really doesn't leak much when it is leaking. I'd say it'll quit dripping after about a half a cup. I suspected a crack in the converter, but it could be almost anything in there, as I haven't pulled the cover to inspect anything at this point.
