Anyone have a good pic of this? I ordered one from Chris but it looks like there's a separate upper part I don't have and didn't see listed on the site. Looks like 2 stacked donuts below the cab and above the cross brace.
-
The FSM shows a different mount for 1/2 ton and 3/4 and 1 ton, but says each respectively is for both C and K series. Anyone have any insight on this?

What year is your truck? All your body mounts should match your frame.
-
It's a 78.

Here's the factory mount:

Here's what I ordered from the site:

It looks to me like there should be a couple of more bushings. Doesn't seem like it's quite long enough.

What you have is the upper mount. That goes above the cross member. You didnt get the lowers, it seems.
-
Jdl, What you have on your truck seems to be a "Mickey Mouse" job...when the upper bushing collapsed, someone stuck the hockey puck looking thing in there (one just below the crossmember) to take up the extra space on the bolt, maybe to keep in cab from rattling?
Chris can get you straightened out on the details, however the double Michelin man one is the upper (your is just VERY collapsed), the lower in your picture of the new parts looks to be a front lower, not a rear lower...'78 rear lower should look like your old one minus the "hockey puck" on top of it.

Both sides are like that so I figured that's the way it was supposed to be. I ordered a front and rear and the front is about the same except only 1 "Michelen Man". It was also different that the factory mount, but it was the proper height once I figured out how it goes in there.
If I understand properly the 2 donuts (or michelen men) go between the cab floor and the crossmember, and the cone shaped piece goes under?

All of that goes above the crossmember?

No! Definitely not. The double one only goes above the crossmember. I just don't recall seeing any short cone lower mounts on the rear. The parts below the crossmember are just Two parts right..."hockey puck" & odd shaped one, NOT Three, correct? What do your front lowers look like? I have to say, I'm not well versed in the different years
('81-up?), 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, ect. My recollection was really a 3 bump upper & a long more hour-glass looking lower...the ones I'm thinking of were definitely 1/2 ton 'pre '80 trucks. Maybe that is the difference in the 1/2 & 3/4 tons?
Where's Chris, Vile & the guys in the "know" at a time like this? ;) Lorne

Heres a pick of my 75 SWB K10. I have the polly mounts, but should be the same principal. (Haulin It) and (1979c20) are all over this one.

What I'm making of this is that the aftermarket replacement items are different then the originals. If the spacing is correct from the frame up in all 6 areas then the shape & number of lumps (assuming it can carry the weight), length of the bottom area & bolt length aren't relevent.
I believe that is what you have going on, I would like Chris to verify that this is the case & not the wrong parts for your application. Lorne

Lorne..I believe you are correct, and I don't think there is a difference in 1/2 or 3/4 ton. I think there is a slight difference in the 2x4 vs 4x4 in height due to the T-Case clearance.
jdl71..I will post the height of all the mounts in the morning.

Is the last picture you posted 2 pieces or is that just one piece?

That's correct
What do your front lowers look like?
Basically the same except only one donut piece.

2 pieces above and below.

I've came to the same conclusion. It appears the replacement mount will put the cab back in the proper position so I'm just going to put in on. The front mounts were different also, but did come up with the correct amount of spacing once I figured out the order of assembly. Thanks to you and the others for your help. I didn't realize this would be so difficult to figure out. I figured just about everyone has done this and someone would have an answer for me fairly quickly. Guess it's not as common as I thought.

Nah, that isn't the case. Think about it...the cab front uppers & rad support uppers are the same 2wd & 4x4, the beds are all the same sitting on the frame, the cab bottom where the mounts go are all the same & the bodylines all line up.
What is different is where the crossmember is in the frame rails. In the 4x4's it's lower to make room for the taller bushings that sag more ??? I checked this out a while back...A friend had bought a nice 2wd 3/4 ton truck & I had a complete but kinda - no, correction ;) a really rusty frame (trans, T-case & shafts) we were going to put the front 4x4 brackets on the nice frame & a 2" block in the rear. Part of my figuring was: "Why are these bushings different?" The outcome, it must have been to try to eliminate vibration under the people in the seat from the transfer case...it serves no other purpose. If the crossmember was moved up on a 4x4 frame to the placement of the 2wd crossmember, one could buy a 2wd bushing kit & everything would be the same & it wouldn't sag in a years time. Or in the case of what we were planning: Do nothing to the crossmember & use all of the 2wd bushings.
He sold the truck & we never did the swap...the guy that bought it did the conventional frame swap, however he threw away a MUCH better frame than he used...which was the basis of my/our thinking. Lorne

I got the back mount in today and it fit just fine. Doesn't look anything like what came out, but spaced the cab properly so the body line on the cab is no longer and inch and a half below the bed body line. ;D
