Has anyone ever tested their fuel, oil and temp gages before. Im just putting a dash together for my truck and want to make sure they all work properly before assembly. My GM shop manual says to use J-24538-A tester but I dont have one obviously. Thanks

Do you have a digital volt meter,it should do the trick.

I don't know if you could test the gauges without sending them a signal- and that's what the tester does
(for $300 :-\ ). The voltage signal would have to be controlled by resistance to make the gauge needle work.

Yeah I figured that was what the tool was for. I put a meter on the terminals and it gave me funny readings. Ive went to several GM dealerships and they dont have it anymore because alot of them dont keep tools back past 10 years. I work at a Dodge dealership and we have tools dating back to the 60's we dont throw anything out. Oh well thanks for the inputs fellas.
