Here's a few of my progress so far. This is my first real attempt at welding so please try not to be too critical. I know they don't look the best but they are strong. I have a friend who's a pretty good welder look things over and give me a few pointers so hopefully I'll start improving before I get to the outer rocker, or may just have him do it. I've got the footwell patch in, the cab brace and mount, the inner and outer rockers trimmed off and the new floor pan trimmed. I'm checking fit here before I do any more trimming. My next step is to trim and weld in the inner rocker, then the outer, then the floor pan section.

looking good man. only way to learn is to jump right in and try. keep up the great work and the pics.

I use self tapping screws to put everything together before welding anything. Then bolt the door and fender on. Adjust, then go back and start welding. Looks like a good start though.

I'm going to from here on. The cab channel and brace was so rusted it wasn't doing anything before. The footwell was also pretty much completely gone, but I took a measurement from the top door hinge to the fender/rocker bolt hole before cutting the old off. I also aligned the fender/rocker/footwell bolt hole before I tacked the footwell on.

May I suggest you getting the cab mount situation sorted out before going any farther. You need a good sitting cab to do your aligning of the fenders, ect. & a badly rusted cab can be in a twist because of the broken down mount (s) & foul you all up. You need to be trying that door before you do any welding. My Two Cents, Lorne

I am trying to address the mount issue, but seem to having a hard time figuring it out. Every place I look lists a separate rear mount for 4wd's, but my FSM says all C & K 1/2 tons use the same mounts, and all C & K 3/4 and 1 tons use the same mounts. FWIW, I have not welded any of the new supports into the outer cab itself yet, so I am still able to adjust it as needed.
