I been trying to find the memory wire cuz everytime I turn off th truck the radio gets back to default, it wont safe the radio stations or settings... I think its the yellow wire.. but on the harness there's no yellow wire... there's too many splicers on the harness that maybe last owner change the wiring color... where in the truck the memory wire or acc suppost to be in?

where in the truck or on your radio?
-
if its the radio it prob the orange or yellow one
-
For the memory wire, just plug it in to the power side of an open, non ignition controlled spot in the fuse panel.
-
now i see what the question was lol "my bad"
-
Like where it says acc or something like wod on the fuse box.. right now there's a wire plug in where it says ign to the power for the harness and last night I try all other open ones and still wont work.. the truck has aftermarket stereo ..I remember that always on the aftermarket harness its the blue wire but not sure now. :(

Blue wire is usually the power antenna on aftermarket radio. Usually the + for the memory is red. You can splice it into the orange wire going to the cigarette lighter and be done with it.
-
I found a open space on the fuse box with power.so that should work to right? The other wire in the fuse box that goes in the harness its connected to the ign side..

Look for the "dome" fuse. Its blown.

All fuses are good..

I would use a test light at the fuse panel and see if you have an open B+ port and run a new FUSED wire to the radio. You will get B+ from the cigarette lighter but I would run it seperately if you can. I had a radio hooked up through the cigarette lighter once and I plugged in a small power inverter and it fried the deck.

Replace the dome fuse. Just because it doesnt look blown doesnt mean it isnt. Just double check ig

What u mean by b+?

thanks for starting this topic. I put a stock radio in my project and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't hold the settings. I had no clue there was a "memory wire." On my Delco, there were two wires out of the back of the radio apart from the ones that plug in. One was orange and the other was orange with a brown stripe. The orange was the memory wire and the other was a ground. Works like a champ now! Thanks guys!

battery positive

Pattery bositive.

Ok i am a little confused but glad to see that i am not the only one with this problem. I have an aftermarket stereo and am having the same problem. Right now all I did was tab into the fuse panel with a wire for power and everytime i turn the truck off i loose everything. So you guys are saying that all I have to do is take that wire out of there and tap into my cig lighter wire? if thats the case i will try this ASAP because i have been trying to figure this out forever. my next question is now i am not sure if the lighter works....
-
Buddy,
There are two separate power wires for the stereo. One is hooked up so that the radio is powered only when the ignition or accessories are powered. The other is one that will have power ALL the time so the radio's memory can store the preset stations, the clock keeps time, etc. I knew I had two wires that needed power, but didn't think about needing a constant source until I read this...then MY light came on! LOL
Use a test light to see where there is a tab that is hot all the time. The one I used, said "Power" above it. Vile was referring to splicing into the cigarette lighter wire because it should be closer to the stereo and it's always powered.
-
i run a separate wire from the fuse box to that memory wire and its working fine.. im having problems with the cigg. lighter wire right now n its not working, thats why i didnt splice it there...
also since i have a aftermarket stereo ... last owner just cut n bend the metal part where the stereo goes in to fit the aftermarket one,but it seens now that the only thing holding the stereo in place its the plastic front dash which i think that someday it might crack or brake.. anyone have some pics of the installation part of the aftermarket stereo, or know if i could use some type of brackets to hold it inplace...

The cigarette lighter problem is most likely the fuse or even the wire may be disconnected from the back of it. Use a test light on the orange wire in the back of the cigarette lighter to check for B+. If you dont have b+, replace the fuse, even if it looks good. Then try again.
-
the wire was unplug from the back,so i plug it in,it has power but when i try it wont work, but i wont out something else.. when i turn on the inside cab lights on , the cigg. lighter has power, when its off no power... now when its off the under the dash light it stays on... maybe thats why last owner had it unplug lol :)

The stock radios had a support bracket that bolted onto the side of the radio case and the other end was bolted to the bottom of the metal dash. I'm sure you could either make one or find one at a junk yard. The only problem I would forsee is having a place on the aftermarket radio to bolt it to. On the stock radios it bolted about midway on the passenger side.
