My '84 GMC stepside has a tailgate that reads Chevrolet. I guessed that somebody had replaced it at some time. Then, looking at pictures of like vehicles, I noticed other GMCs that had Chevy gates. Is it possible that some came from the factory like this? Mine also has Chevrolet horn button and dash emblem. I thought it WAS a Chevy until I got it home and looked at the title. The VIN number matches up with the title. Any ideas????? ???

No they did not come like that. What's the first 11 digits of the vin#?

That is one of the interesting things about these trucks, (& other models with many year runs with some variations) people come up with whatever they find, have, can get cheap, want it to look like, be, ect. ect. Unless you start matching option codes...much of this goes unnoticed to the average person. 2wd become 4x4's, '70's have 80's fronts, 6cyl end up with V8's, Diesels get gas engines.
If only the horn cap, dash emblem & the tailgate have been changed...your truck in pretty much original when "grading on a curve" ;) Enjoy! Lorne

I know that with GMC/Chevy being so much alike, parts will get swapped, including those model-specific ones.
