Title: 700R4 year identification

Need a tranny guy here I am about to order a monster in a box rebuild kit for my 700r4 when I look up the kit they have 3 diffrent kits for the 700r4 one for 1982-1984 one for 1985-1986 and one for 1987-1993. Any one no how to figure out what year you have? and just curios what are the diffrences between all the years? I always thought the 700r4 was a non electronic tranny except for the lock up and all years where the same. after that they came out with 4l8e which is the computer controlled version. thanks marc
