Title: Air bag helper
Post by: 74chev4x4 on June 10, 2011, 12:29:41 pm
Hey guys, I would like to put some firestone air bags helpers on my 75 k 20. Problem is I have a 2" spring lift in the rear and not sure if the bags will mount properly still. Can't find any info about this on firestones site, anyone else run into this or have done this with no problems?

The air helpers would be too short with your lifted springs, I would suggest a spacer/extended mount between the frame and the top of the bag to compensate.

Bought the air lift bags today with the spacer kit, can't wait for it to get here.

So how did it turn out?  Did you get them installed?

Been thinking about these as well.....would be interested to see how they turn out and work on these old mules.   I was up at Summit Racing store a few weeks ago and they had a few in the scratch and dent area, would have had to make my own mounts but the price was right!

i would think if you had blocks in the rear for a lift you could install the bags as normal, but if you had an all spring lift then you would need spacers

I was planing on using a triple bellow bag instead of a more common dual bellow, no spacer required, plus is sits lower when emptied ;)
