So today my '82 305 was running great, and we decide to take a bush trail down to the beach.
The trail wasn't that rough, I bottomed out once.
BUT somewhere in this short drive, something happened.
As soon as I stopped, I noticed the idle was way to low and the engine was struggling to run.
It struggles on idle and when I accelerate from a stop, but when I start driving it runs just fine.
I assumed a vacuum leak but couldn't find one, all hoses are in place with no cracks.
Obviously something came loose/broke on the drive, its probably leaking air somewhere (I assume).
What should I check?

Could be vac line at the tranny modulator if you have one. Chevk your tranny. Try spraying brake cleaner, carb cleaner, or wd40 around the vacuum line fittings, vacuum lines, carb base, where the intake bolts to the heads.

Alright, this modulator line is just on the side of the tranny?
-
Passenger side near the back of the transmission. Should route through a steel line to a tee on the back of the intake, but someone could have changed that setup.

dont spray brake cleaner around the vacuum lines if they arnt leaking now it will cause them to leak soon carb might not be as bad but use something like map gas something that wont dry out the lines or break them down

You may have shook some dirt up in the fuel system and it got into the carb and is now clogging on of the jets? Try reving the engine and shutting the choke as you hold the throttle open a couple times to "suck" it clean?

i know ive sucked up some crap from my tank before when i go mudding
