My 85 C10 gas door hinge broke. Any one have any successful repairs they would be willing to share. I have a couple of ideas but I'd like to see if any one has done it before. The pivoting point on the top, part of the door itself, broke.

I am gonna use a cabinet hing on my tail light assembly when I get off my can and do the swap, I don't see why it couldn't work on a bed side

Can't you just replace it?

That is my last resort. I have an extra off a parts truck I saved but it is silver. This door is nice with no rust except for the upper part of the hinge.

What color do you need Zeig?

72L Apple Red is the color of the truck according to the sticker on the glove box door.

I had a red one off of a sub I stripped. Not sure if its the same fit and color but I will see if I can locate it tomorrow. Youre welcome to it. Do you have a pic of whats broke? Id like to see it to better understand whats broken.

I would think that with a welder and a spare door for parts it could be done, but wouldn't be worth it. I think for the few dollars it would cost you I'd try spray touch-up paint and see how the match is. Probably won't be great though.

Hard to tell in the pictures whats broken ,but a guy who used to work on my trucks would braze a nail in to hold the spring so my filler door wouldn't flop around. I learned a lot from him ,he would fix parts that should have been replaced.
