OK again i am having problems with my truck. Been a bad week everything i have touched this week has broke and now my TRUCK.
Anyways here is my problem, when I try to shift my truck ( automatic) it will allow me to move the handle or shifter on the column or what ever you call it. but the truck wont go into gear. Sometime you think you are in park and your in reverse. At first i thought it just needed to be adjusted but thats not the case. I can have someone on the inside of the truck move the shifter and I can look at it from under the hood and see that the rod is not moving. this is telling me that the something inside the column is shot! It this possible? is this common? what is the fix? If I keep move the handle it will catch every now and than but it is getting worse and it is scary as heck. Also at on the putside of the column just a few inches down from the fire wall I can see that something is wrong. I can move the shaft up and down a good 1" to 2". I assume it will be just easier to replace the column. Is this a big job or is this something simple?

There is a DIY in the tech section to tear down your column.
