I have a lwb single cab 79 C-10 with a two piece driveline, and a th350 and it been...sketchy at best recently and instead of rebuilding the tranny I found out its cheaper to swap to a four speed in my area and I have always preferred a 4 speed. granny low is the most available here it seems and I was wondering if I swap should I invest in a different driveline or should mine be fine? thanks.

??? whats rebuilding the motor have to do with the trans or do you mean rebuild a trans? nothings wrong with a th350 nothings wrong with a two piece setup that you have. nothings wrong with a sm465 now i think you can pick up a rebuild for about 600 or less seen some new ones for that price also. now a sm465 i love mine wish it had more gears. but lets say you can pick one up for cheap (less than a th350) now you have to think about a driveshaft if you find a lwb then you will be set but if its short then think again

Rebuilding the trans or replacing it with converting it to a 4 speed are both reasonable solutions. Both should be fairly budget friendly if you buy your parts right. The 4 speed will take more time and planning. It really comes down to what you want your truck to be and what you are willing to do to get it there. As far as other transmission options most are considerabally more expensive but may be better, it just depends on your goals.

What I meant was instead of rebuilding the transmission. Guess I got a little tongue tied.
