I havee an 80 c10 silverado with a 350 sbc. it holds about 25lbs. of oil pressure most of the time. what is the oil pressure level supposed to be at?

			-
At least 1psi per 100 rpm.

			-
minimum of 7lbs at idle and 1lb per 1000rpm.

At least 1psi per 100 rpm.
Is it 100 or 1000?

1000, keep in mind what I posted is MINIMUM.  10-15lbs at idle is normal.

It does change though, right?  I wouldn't say the same number at idle and highway speed is normal.

Pressure should rise with rpm increase. At a minimum of 1 psi per 100 rpm:
700 rpm idle = 7 psi oil pressure
2500 rpm cruising = 25 psi minimum

This isnt making sense to me. Your saying 1lb per one thousand rpm. So a 800rmp idle would be .8lb? Grim makes sense, 1lb per one hundred rpm. 800rpm idle would be 8lbs.

grim that is pretty close to what it is, unless it is hot and idling very slowly and it does fluxuate with change in RPMs.

			-
				x2 for grim!   ;D

7lbs MINIMUM at idle (600-800lbs) and MINIMUM of 1lb per 1000rpms.  So at 5000, you should have at LEAST 7 + 5x1= 12lbs
What Grim posted is normal/recommended.

I understand now. I needed to see the whole equation. Thanks. 40-60 at idle wont hurt anything, right?

			-
No. My truck pumps 60 or so when cold at idle, then below 25 when hot.

			-
Yeah for some reason chevy's tend to change, at least that's what the gauge needle shows. Fords stay constant for some reason.

Just an update. Been working over 10- 12 hours daily for the last 3 1/2 months and have put about 6000 miles on it in that time and it gets a solid 25-30lbs of pressure going down the road and 45lbs when it is cold. This thing is a solid old truck and I just got done puting headers and chery bombs on strate pipes. ;D ;D ;D other than the exaust and changing the oil in it I havent had to many major issues with it other than gasa millage ;)
