Title: Front End Conversion.
Post by: brandenbmx on July 02, 2011, 12:28:56 pm
I know this has been covered at least 10k times.. But I couldn’t find it searching.  The search button is always broke when I need it lol ;D

I want to convert my front end FROM
(http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae347/brandenbmx/Grandpas%20Truck/PassFront.jpg)

TO THIS (THIS TRUCK IS LOCAL, AND REALLY NICE. Dont know the guy but I like the truck. I wont lower mine... But its still nice!)

I’m not worried about the wiring. But what im not sure about is core support, hood, hinges, finders etc...

If you don’t feel like explaining and its covered over and over please put links..  Also I cant really buy a "parts" truck because I have no where to put it and the city is already on my but about vehicles.  God I WANT A POLE BARN IN THE COUNTRY SOMEDAY....

Also, I haven’t been on here in a while.  But if anyone is interested in a update on progress. I decided to keep the cummins, had a custom drive and jack shaft made, got the cable x converter box for speedo and had Bosch VE pump rebuilt. Turned pump up 20% on fuel and 15 deg on timing, went with 3200 rpm spring and new lift pump/ filer.  She runs good!

My focus now is the body. The bottoms of the doors are rusting and the b pillars where the roof meets the b pillars. So I am going to get that under control and possibly change out the front end.

You need the radiator support for the 89-91, grill, headlights and signals....
Fenders are the same..

Thanks..  Im from Ohio. Near Dayton.   Im working on the truck now actually. I am doing the head liner.  WOW IT SUCKS.  I am going to need a rear window seal now. I had to pop the rear sliding glass out to pull the headliner out.

Do I need the radiator too or just the core support?  I have a chrysler 4 core in there now and a intercooler. I would like to maybe do a BECOOL or something like that and a bigger intercooler.  Anyone have some front end parts they wanna unload?

Just the support as it has the reliefs for the updated headlight buckets.

FYI, GM installed 6.2 diesels in these trucks and the radiators were 4 core.  I believe they even provide even more cooling than the Chrysler 4 core.  My 1990 Suburban has a Cummins in it and I'm using the stock 6.2 diesel radiator and it fits in there nicely and has no plastic tanks on it.  As far as intercoolers, look for a 99-04 powerstroke intercooler.  They are about as large as you can go and have no plastic on them.

Basically you need everything attached to the core support to do the conversion on a 81-87.
