My brake booster has a leak everytime I hit the brakes you can hear the the booster lose vacume. My question is will an 88 chevy truck or newr booster work on mt 81 k5?

Don't think so due to yours being a MT. I took gasket sealer and put alot between the master cylinder and booster. Fixed the leak lol

There are tests to see if the booster is bad. One is, do you have to nearly stand on your pedal to get the brakes to work? Should hear a whoooshing sound too when applying brakes.

If your diaphragm is shot it's shot. Replace it. When you step on the pedal you should hear the sound of air pressure rushing in. If you hear a sustained suction sound when you depress the pedal replace the booster.

yeah all joking aside replace it asap. the reason i did that to mine i couldnt keep her running to go mudding it was a cheap quick fix to have fun i dont even drive her anymore starting a resto

I bit the bullet recently. Started to clean my old unit and it was leaking like a sieve. Just ordered a nice shiny unit to bolt straight on!!
