Title: th350 to 700r4
Post by: bigblock73 on September 28, 2001, 11:55:00 am
Does anyone or has anyone done this swap?  I am going to put in an overdrive trans (haven't purchased it yet) in place of the th350 in my '73 2WD and was wondering if I need to purchase a crossmember from an overdrive equipped truck or can I just reposition mine and drill new holes in the frame?

whoops, wrong section.  I can't figure out how to move it so I'll re-post it to the general section.

the 700r4 is a bit longer then the th350 so you may have driveshaft problems and if it was a 4x4 the adapter between the transfercase and trans would be different

The adapters are the same between the tranny and t-case.  Both the TH350 and the 700R4 have 27 spline output shafts so there is no problem there either.  I think that you should be able to get by in using your old driveshafts too.
