Title: Cool Fuel Pump
Post by: Tazman on July 09, 2011, 02:48:05 pm
I was wondering if anyone out there had ever heard of this.Keeping the gas tank half full or better keeps the fuel pump cooler,if not the pump can over heat and stop. The reason I ask is it happened to me when I let the tank get near empty, the fuel pump just stopped. It was 90 degrees at 1 in the morning and this pump had just been replaced this last December.Has this happened to anyone else ?Thanks

I have heard that, still you may have a problem with that fuel pump.

I know its a problem on the dodge w/ cummins, but never heard of it on our trucks.

but I like to keep my tanks above 1/4 tank anyways.

Yes the fuel keeps the pump from getting too hot however if the pump is stopping it's most likely failing.
