Title: Round Headlight Extended Cab
Post by: slammed79 on July 12, 2011, 09:57:36 pm
I laid eyes on an extended cab square for the first time over the weekend. The gentleman who owned it wasn't much for chatting with a pierced and tattooed individual such as myself so I wasn't able to get the low down but I was able to snap this with my phone.

I love the idea of an extended cab on our trucks, but I'm not really all that fond of those windows.

Are they rare outside of the midwest? I can think of several people growing up that had them and the dually version for hauling horse trailers and fifth wheels.

Most of them were built in Texas, and I remember one on ebay last year in Las Vegas, I've been around 73-87's most of my life and had never seen one in person.

Of course the same could be said for the elusive VW Notchback.

It appears that the windows are the slider type.  But you're right, it doesn't match well with the rest of the windows.  In fact, the window appears to be installed a bit crooked.  IMO, most extended cabs trucks don't match well with the rest of the truck.  IMO, the truck that put some thought into matching / integrating the extended part well is the the Mazda.

This is what those windows remind me of. I dont like it. The truck is pretty clean, But the windows kill it. Notice that it has a built in 1-2" Razor Back? Haha.

From the research I have done most of the windows were plexiglass in rubber gaskets.  The window got brittle with time and rust formed around the gaskets.  Some folks just installed a bigger window or modified it some other way.  Mine has S-10 windows in it that looks like it belongs there.
