My 76 step side originally had a 3 speed manual transmission according to the previous owner. It failed while he was towing something on the highway so he wound up putting in an automatic transmission....a TH700R4 a.k.a. 4L60 and not the "E" version. My question is how does the reverse light activation take place? I hate to bring up my Dodge truck on this forum but it has a 3 speed manual transmission and there is a reverse light switch mounted on the left rear of it. Was the chevy set up the same way? and now since it is an automatic how would i get the reverse lights to actuate now? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

should be on the steering column
-
??? even with the shifter on the floor?
-
The reverse light switch was on the transmission. The factory Auto had it on the P/N switch at the base of the column. Do you have a floor shifter now or an automatic column?

its got a B&M floor shifter in it.

OK so use the B&M Floor shifter reverse light switch they sell for your shifter. It should have came with one but if you don't have it I'm sure you can get it.

peeled back the carpet and padding and found the switch. its a bit dirty but may be functional ....havent tested it yet ...it has two lil buttons on top of it i guess when the linkage hits it to activate the reverse light.
