Title: 84' c10 rim size ??

Could someone please tell me the stock size rim and bolt pattern.  I measure mine, and measure 16" across the center. and a 5-4 3/4 lug pattern.
I swore someone told me 15" and a 5-5 lug pattern was stock..  

Looking a a couple sets of used rims in my area..  need to know this before I buy !!

im pretty sure stock truck ralleys are 5x5 bolt pattern and measure 15x8 with 4.5 back spacing.

You are measuring the outside of the rim called the felloe band.  the rim is measured in diameter at the point that the tire bead seats to the rim.  the reason you get 16 inch is the extra 1/2 on each side to hold the bead on the tire.  I have the 8 inch rallyes on the rear of my truck... I understand that they were on the suburbans.  the regular truck wheels were 7 1/2 and the vans with rallye wheels had a 6 1/2 wheel (or maybe it was 7 inch)

chisr.. Thanks for the explanation..   Help ed out greatly..  I think I found a nice look set of rims to put on my truck.  They have a smaller offset, so they should look great !!

If you want to correctly measure the bolt pattern you measure from the edge of one bolt to the center of the hole across from it, don't measure center to center or you end up with the wrong dimension.

Or at This Link they give you a little table if you measure center to center on the wheel or studs.

If you go center to center on a 5 X 5" pattern you will measure 4 11/16" (almost 4 3/4").

blues, after your explanation its makes sense to me know.  But why measure a wheel that way.  I guess its a little more user friendly.  thanks for your help..

I figure they use the trick with the rim so that when you are measuring 5 lug rims you don't have to carry around that little conversion table for 5 lug bolt patterns.

It seems the radius of the wheel lug hole is about the same as the difference between the measured dimension and the actual bolt circle diameter.

Another dang question by me !!  I have a set of rims that have 255x70-r15
I think they are 8" or 10" wide.  Do I need to put 255 back on or can I use 235 or 225.  I am looking for a cheaper tire, and 255 are to much to shell out right now.  What different sizes can I use ??
