Title: seatbelts are not retracting

my 85 has a nice interior, but the seatbelts on the driver and passenger side will not retract.  can this be fixed or do they have to br repalced?   HELP PLEASE!!!!   Thomas in Des Moines.   ps.  i dont want to replace them because they are still in good shape and are not faded

Are they basically locked in the out position?  Try playing with the pendulum under the cover and see if it has it locked, you may need to lubricate it.

ill try cleaning them.  they retract, but the shoulder part just hangs loose in when it is on, ill try to clean
