I'm a new member to the site. I've read many posts from the past and finally decided to join the discussion.
A few photos of my '73 and '74 that I had ready to upload. I've had these trucks for quite a while now.
I bought the '73 GMC at a swap meet about 14 years ago. It was a basket case when I bought and did essentially a driving rebuild on it. is a late production 1973 model. 350 V8, TH350, NP203, 4.10's. It came with a 350 4 bbl., in 1998 I swapped in a GM performance parts 300 HP 350 crate motor. It has a Dana 44 front that I rebuilt and GM 10.5" (14 bolt) rear (haven't tore into). The NP203 had been converted to part time at some point prior to me owning it. I'd like to put the Mile Marker shaft kit in, if they still make it. It's not a perfect truck, but it runs great and it hasn't let me down. I've tried to keep it mostly stock or at least a stock look, however the front and rear bumpers are U.S. Army CUCV items with associated brackets, etc. The clevis mounts are really handy items to have and the mirrors are camper style for an 88-98 pickup. The bed was replaced with a fuel filler door type (coming back from a hunting trip I slid off an icy road and bashed the old bedside into a roadsign). The colors are original, however this truck did have the lower trim with white in the middle from the factory. But I preferred the upper trim and solid body color so nixed the lower trim and middle paint. The truck had only the heater (no a/c) so I added an aftermarket in dash A/C setup in 1998. When the compressor quite on me in 2004, I swapped on a factory a/c system. My most recent work was a conversion to run as a dual fuel propane/gasoline truck. I've had it running on propane for about 4 months now and have been really impressed.
I bought the '74 Chevy from an old man who had a bunch of old trucks and cars that he had collected but never did anything with them. I did a ground up rebuild/restoration on it about 12 years ago and haven't really done anything to it since. From the factory it came with a 350 4bbl, SM465 4 spd, NP203, 3.73's (Gov-Lock rear) and factory a/c. The front axle is a Dana 44 and the rear is a GM 12-bolt. When I rebuilt the rear end I swapped the Gov-Lock for a Eaton Posi-Trac The color is the original Killarney (sp?) Green, with white interior. The truck originally only had the upper trim, which I went back with. The truck had a seized short block when I bought it, so I found a '76 350 4bolt main block, bored it 0.30", added flat top pistons and crane RV came and topped it with '89 TBI heads and an Edelbrock intake and Quadrajet carb. I had to replace the original bed with a fuel filler door type due to rust issues and subsequently converted the truck to dual tanks. I have about half of the parts I need to convert it to run on propane, so that will probably be a project in the next few months.
There's much more to add, but I suppose I should shut up and post photos.
