Help, I am in need of a custom coolant temperature sending unit for my '77 K-30 project.
I bought a set of gauges from a Kenworth T-800 truck, and I am installing them into my '77 K-30. The problem I am having is that I need the coolant temp sending unit that is compatible with these gauges. I cannot locate the truck that the sending unit that these gauges are from, and without the VIN from the truck I cannot get a replacement CTS from Kenworth.
So what I need from the forum members is this:
1) A VIN from a mid 90s to mid 2000s Kenworth truck that has a US Gauge 100~230F electrical water temp gauge in it. The OE part # for the Kenworth coolant temp gauge is: K152-152 152837
Or:
2) A part number for a decending coolant temp sensor that has a 65ohm resistance value @ 220F.
More about option #2: My local NAPA dealer has a book that I was roaming through, and I found some sensors that were close, but no cigar. Out of 100s of sensors that were listed, about 20% of the listings had an ohm value listed in the description, and none were what I needed. And of course, no ohm value listing is impossible to tell. Even a 5ohm variance will cause an inaccuracy in my gauge.
If anyone on here works at an auto parts store, and can look through their catalogs, would you see if you can find a coolant temp sensor that lists a decending 65ohm value at 220F. If so I would greatly appreciate what you could find.

The proper sending unit for that gauge is: K379-13. The supplier is Ametek/Dixson - US Gauge Division. Their P/N is 144455.
The sender has a 10-32 UNF threaded terminal with a 1/4" flat-blade ground terminal. The threads are 1/2-14 NPT.
The K152-152 (also Ametek/Dixson P/N 152837) gauge was superseded back in 11/2003 by Q43-1090 because the Cummins and CAT larger engines needed a higher operating range on the gauge (250° F vs. 230° F). The new gauge uses the same sender and wiring.
An alternate sender is the Peterbilt P/N 16-10407. It has a 2-pin Metri-pack sealed connector with a 3/4"-16 UNF thread that seals with an o-ring.
Q43-1091 is the metric version of the gauge.
Hope that is specific enough for you! I'm sitting here at my desk at Kenworth Engineering!!! ;D

For those who are interested, these gauges pop up from time to time on eBay.
I gave $25.00 for these four gauges, and the OE dash panel, + $10.00 for shipping.
These are good looking gauges, better than most aftermarket IMHO, and first quality. If they'll live for a million miles in an OTR truck, then they should live forever in my old squarebody.

I was gonna get the VIN off one of the T800s at work but ehjorten seems to have you covered lol
