Title: start problem

My 80 305 2bbl starts like it has sat for a month after a couple of days. I have to pump the accelerator maybe 15 times before it fires. It's like the carb dries out. What would do this...bad float? Other than that it runs great. Thanks!

     Has it been rebuilt?  If all of the gaskets have dried out enough to allow it to evaporate and not leak.  Your float bowl should hold the fuel, unless it has a small leak that you haven't seen or detected yet.
     Also have someone push the pedal to the floor slowly while you look down the barrel with a flash light, you should see a solid stream of fuel being squirted into the main body.

If you are running the qjet your fuel bowl may be leaking from the well plugs. A rebuild kit and some epoxy can fix that.

Other issue could be the fuel is evaporating with all the corn crap they put in now.

somewhere there is a leak you just have to find it. like said check for spray make sure next time fuel is still in the carb
