Title: another dull tire question
Post by: Cheekster96 on August 03, 2004, 08:00:00 pm
ok fellas, bear with me.
i have a 87 chev 3/4 ton 4x4 with 16x6.5 inch rims.  the truck is stock (except for some engine mods) and the ride height is straight from the factory.  the tires on there now are some Good Year Workhorses, 235/85/16s.
what is the largest diameter tire i can put on those 6.5 inch rims?  i saw a good price on a set of BFGs but there were a 275 size.
i want something a little better in snow and mud.  these tires just plain suck, but at the same time, i haul alot of weight in the bed too.  i usually have to put it in 4wd to pull the boat out of the water (muddy ground, not concrete) and no posi in the rear (yet).
any suggestions?
thanks.

I have 285's all-terrians on my stock rims with hub caps (16" x 6.5") and my truck is a 2 wheel drive, I have never had a problem with them rubbing at all.

Here is a link of a picture.
