Does anyone know how difficult it is to install in motor mount inserts? I am going to be raising my motor up shortly to do my oil pan, and i was going to replace my motor mounts, and the inserts and i was just wonderin how hard it was. in theory it seems easy but usually that is never the case.

Your right, if your old ones are not squashed or out of round they come out easy, the new ones just take a little coaxing to get back in if you mounts are not out of round.

it's tougher than it appears, when the engine is still in. YOu have to be able to reach those bolts that hold it to the block, and be able to push that 5 inch bolt through the long hole....i used a long pipe to lever up the engine, up and down, til i was able to push that bolt in easily and fit the nut on .
Don't tighten up any bolt til all are in place. If i remember correctly, i put a block of wood under the oil pan and took a bottle jack to raise and lower the engine slightly.
Check your trans mount as well at same time--they kind of go hand in hand. Trans mount is super simple to replace.

I didn't buy inserts. What I did was just completely take the entire motor mount assembly and swapped it out for some I bought at AutoZone. The only way (that I could figure) to get the inserts swapped from the clamshell was shave down the two endings (using a grinder) that were holding the clamshell together. At these endings were I think machine pressed so there was no way you would have been able to easily take the clamshell apart. Wish I had a picture, sorry.
