Title: Stock style wheels?

I'm going to the junk yard you pull it area, what rims/wheels should I look for that will fit my cute 78 C25 (8lug 2wd)? I just need cheap and good replacement for my stock 16X7.50 rims (tyre cost is insaine around here for them).

Post by: zieg85 on September 15, 2011, 03:39:16 pm: Any older 8 lug rims should work, Ford, Dodge and Chevy. Be real careful on used tires. Educate yourself on how to read the dates. Personally I would stay away from anything older than 5 years old or you may regret it... There are a couple of posts lately with tire issues. I had one that looked brand new I kept for a spare. It blew apart sitting in my garage, come to find out it was 15+ years old and had no weather cracks at all.

older as in? 2000? 1990? most of the j yards around here don't have anything older than 95 anymore. :( I'm buying new tires to put on the rims. the tires I have right now are 10 years old and dry rioted only thing keeping them aired up are the tubes.

Post by: zieg85 on September 15, 2011, 07:58:05 pm: I have 2001 rims on my 85. I thought it was a nice upgrade while still stock GM. You may look on Craigslist to see if anyone mentions take-offs. A common term meaning someone took off the stock rims to upgrade to some bling. I bought my 4 with the center caps, supposedly only had a few miles on them for $100 with not a scratch on them. I bought conversion lugs so I could bolt on the plastic caps.

the later wheels will be tucked in a little bit under the fender because of the backspacing but they will fit with no problems. if the wheels have the centercaps held on by the lug nuts, you'll need some "dual thread" 9/16-18 lugs to hold them on as the stockers on the new trucks are metric. thats the only thing you have to do special.

The ones I used to have are the steel wheels from a 2001 silverado.

Post by: 1979C20 on September 19, 2011, 06:49:05 pm: My dad just lifted his truck and put new tires and wheels on it, so I got his old tires and wheels. Theyre 2004 2500HD steel wheels. I need to get the double threaded lug nuts to put the hub caps on it.

I ran H2 wheels on my 97 K2500 Suburban. The only problem is that the center caps wouldn't fit over the center hub on the rear axle.
