My dad just lifted his 2004 Duramax and put new tires and wheels on it, and he gave me his old ones.

Their taller than my old tires too, So Maybe I'll get some better MPG out of the 4.11's. Heres how they look.

I need to get the double threaded lug nuts so I can put my hub caps on. His lug nuts were a different thread than mine.

Here they are before putting them on. 2 have decent tread, the other 2 have okay tread. MUCH better than my old tires.

And a couple of comparisons.
Old(left) front New(right) front

Yeah that should definetly help, but your speedo might be off now. You may need to get the double sided lug nuts from a dealer. Looks much beefier too.
Any rubbing issues?
-
The only rubbong issue I had was on my front driver side. I had the tread rip off an old tire and it pulled the wheel well in towards the tire. So when I put these new ones on it rubbed while turning. So I grabbed the sledge and just bent it back out and no more rubbing. So checker wouldnt have the lugs? I know mine are standard thread and the new style are metric thread. I was thinking about re-threading the nuts.
-
I just saw another post with coversion lugs... craziness! I'd go that route, but I doubt you'll find them at checker.
-
I bought my set on ebay 35 double threaded lug nuts for 35 bucks or so.
-
you would only think youre getting better MPG because the miles you drive is off. Not by much, but it makes a difference.

Been meaning to do this on mine too. But I also have GMC caps instead of Chevy. So I also need to sell those then buy the Chevys.
-
Hey goatman, could you find the listing for the lug nuts? I just searched through 30 pages on ebay and couldnt find them. What size are the studs on our trucks anyways?
-
Oreillys website says the nuts I need are 9/16x18 thread. I can only find 9/16x20 on ebay except for these ones http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wheel-Lug-Nuts-9-16-Dual-Thread-Chevy-GMC-32-Pcs-/360394427284?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53e92e8b94 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wheel-Lug-Nuts-9-16-Dual-Thread-Chevy-GMC-32-Pcs-/360394427284?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53e92e8b94) do you think theyll work?
-
Those would work, But these are what I bought.

I got 3 extra for my spare tire carrier and just to have in the event that I misplace one or several. I just asked for a set of 35 and he gave them to me no additional charge.
-
Thanks goatman. Just ordered them.
-
Got them in the mail on saturday. Man do my wheels look good! Im going to be learning how to weld and weld up the trim holes on my body then get it nice and flat and primer it. Itll look good being all one color. Ill have pictures up soon. Ive been stupid busy lately. Since I got.my license back im going here and there, work and errands, friends and family. But, its nice to get out of the house again.
-
I was curios about the tire size and I converted it. Apparently 33in tires clear with no rubbing on a stock 2wd. Interesting.
-
The wheel upgrade looks good, sir, but I'd be nervous (with my driving habits) that I'd hit a hard bump while turning and have the tire hit the fender. It looks dangerously close.
-
No issues with that. I went out offroading and I was turning and bottomed out my control arm bump stops. No damage on either side.

You need a k10, you go "off roading" way too much for a c20. ;D
-
Trust me, im working on that. The old truck does pretty dang good offroad. I thinks its the g80 in the rear which is locked up solid until 25 mph.
-
2wd with a locker = 4wd with 2 open rear ends.
Used to love taking my c10 out in the mud.
And some people are gonna smack me, but I've had my current truck out playing in the old garden a few times, nothing too severe though. ;D
-
there is a deference in off roading and mudding ;D

This is true...very true ^
