So a few weeks back I went fishing, hooked up my 12foot fiberglass boat "which I can pretty much pick up on my own" and my truck wouldn't hit 50mph going up a summit.. now that 6cylinder was a great motor of course but I need a TRUCK!!
so I dug up this bad boy!
steamed the engine bay
(http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j327/elkohater/350engineswap006.jpg)
and droped it in with new everything
(http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j327/elkohater/iphonepics017.jpg)
late model 350cid four bolt main, had a new hei dist. and new Q-jet.. scored it for 350 bucks. the best part is I sold the 6cylinder for 400bucks before it ever came out. took me just less then 2 days. it is a completely different vehicle now and I couldnt be happier with the results.
After that was done I decided I hated the rubber floor mat and since it's a camping truck who needs it.

after finding this surface rust I spent about four hours scraping and sanding and then "rhinoliner"!!!
also did the door panels, wanted to really go with the "tough" look
(http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j327/elkohater/iphonepics029.jpg)
So thats where I'm at as of right now, plan to have it painted in november, I'll get those pics up when complete.

kind of thinking about road sound from the floor. how does rino work with sound deadening. but good deal on the engine swap
-
looks good man and good job on the bedliner
-
actually, the bed liner made the cab a whole lot more sound. I have less road noise and my little stereo system sounds more solid.
-
The floor looks great!!
I was pondering doing that too.
-
Floor looks good!
-
i like it !
-
Well at least now after your camping trips, you just have to take a hose to it. ;D
-
I would consider installing some drain plugs in the floor, otherwise water will pool up
-
hows good dose that stuff stick to the door panels have you tried yo peal it off
-
it's not coming off, guaranteed. very tough shoot!! if the door panels were in better condition I would never have done it but the old guy who gave me the truck had speakers installed in them which required 6inch holes to be cut so they are ruined

I know its been a long time since I posted any progress, been a lot of medical drama in our life.. although I still come on here and keep my self inspired by all your guys projects.. so I finally got a small break and pulled some side jobs fixing some peoples cars and piled up the cash to finish my project. a lot of you guys who have been on here for awhile will remember my truck and for those of you who dont, this was a free truck, I got it from the original owner and he BABIED this old truck.."as you can see fron the body condition"
so here it is tore apart
(http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j327/elkohater/iphone009.jpg)
sanded and all the little imperfections fixed
(http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j327/elkohater/iphone014.jpg)
all masked up and ready to go
(http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j327/elkohater/iphone017-1.jpg)
and now my custom mixed paint, I went with a satin finish..always pictured it that way
(http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j327/elkohater/iphone018-1.jpg)
blacked out all the chrome and silver parts
(http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j327/elkohater/iphone024.jpg)
then istalled a 2" lift kit and 33/12.50/15 dick cepek's on black mods to finish it off
(http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j327/elkohater/iphone026.jpg)
still needs the front bumper put back on and the bed liner kit which I'm heading out to do here in a few, Ill get the final pics posted..
And just to ad a little inspiration for you guys, I did this all in four days!!
-
Oh and I also put a edelbrock top end on and cleaned up the engine

I'd like to put this in the projects section, can I move this thread some how or do I need to start a new one there??
-
Looks good!
-
Well freaking done, sir! Looks fantastic IMO!! Be a heck of a nice "camping truck" as you referred to it before! LOL
Kudos!

The project section is for projects only, no builds. Only a moderator can move it. If you want to start a project thread covering a specific project you can start a new one.
That color looks like it should be more in a wooded area and dirt road background for the pic, not in a suburban setting. For some reason I picture it on a trail somewhere and living high up in the mountains. Nice job on the paint.
-
I really like that color!
-
ill get it out and get some wooded area pics for ya guys LOL
-
Nice build!
Trucks belongs here not in the projects, it won't be moved.
-
Lookin good, Elkohater. But now you've gotten yourself to the point where you need a new boat!
-
thought ya guys would like to see my buddys little truck, he convinced me to spray it while my garage was still set up for painting
(http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j327/elkohater/iphone017-2.jpg)

-
