Is there any trick to installing the windshield in our trucks?
I got the windshield out without busting it, but don't want to break it putting it back in.

Same process for the windshield and rear window. I dont know if you NEED the special tools or not.

I used to years ago build bed toppers, they are a little different, but 1979c20 has the right idea. Same principle and you can find all kinds of vid's on u-tube. It really is not that hard if you take your time.

Im not sure if different models use different windshield mounts, but my silverado uses the locking strip on the front and rear. That 67 is way different than mine.

Clean the rubber, put it on the cab, set the bottom of the glass into it, lay it back onto the rubber, then use a non metalic spoon type of thing to work the glass down into the gasket. A 5 gallon paint stir stick sanded down works good for this. They make a tool for this as well, its made out of plastic, I forget what its called. Glass guys call them "bones". You will also want to lube the rubber up with spray foam window cleaner. You can install the lock strip with a screw driver etc. but they make tools just for it. They are not to expensive.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.
I'll give it a shot here one of these days.
I've done several rear windows, but never a windshield.
When I did the back windows I used the method Blazin described, however, I may try putting the rubber gasket on the windshield, and then set it in the truck.

I wouldnt do that, youll be fighting it for hours.

Rear window you use a rope in the rubber, Winshield you put the gasket on the truck, and then the glass in.

I just put my windshield in. Thanks much for the advice guys.
I wasn't having much luck getting the window gasket to stay on the cab, so I put it on the windshield, then dropped it into the cab. One thing I did different......instead of using a rope, or string, I used some of that plastic weed eater string. I am glad to report it worked like a champ!
That YouTube video said to use foaming window cleaner on the rubber gasket. But by using the weed eater string I was able to roll the gasket in dry with out any issues.
Whole job took about 10mins start to finish. :)

A friend of mine used to own a glass shop. I helped him set a lot of windshields and we used the rope trick. Slick as a whistle...
