Title: hows this sound
Post by: gsxrinthe9s on October 20, 2011, 09:47:55 am
I've asked around on this site and got some ideals
Current set-up 87 silveraldo 4 wd 305 / 350 turbo
I picked up a complete 96 LT1
there's a guy local that sells rebuilt trans for $700
Not sure what one to go with 700 r or ?
Not sure if the headers off the 305 will work
Assuming I will have to drop the gas tank and install a electric fuel pump
think I'm going to have to get a new bracket for the ac
Compressor am I forgeting anything ?
And of course all new belts hoses ect I'm thinking about useing
A air compressor bracket off same year vett I'm told they will allow
The compressor to clear the frame

the 4l60e and i think the 4l60 both require a computer to shift. the 700r4 doesnt so it would be the best bet if you want od

the computer for the 4l60 tells it when to shift. im not going to try to sound like i know what im talking about but if you can match up what trans came out of the truck and get wire harness then you should be ok

The ECM from the LT1 will control the transmission, if you run anything other that it, you need a tuners help.

Doesn't the truck already have an electric pump? The 87 is TBI isn't it?

you can't use the stock TBI pump, just switch to a Vette or F-body pump...
