My dome light stays on all the time. It just started doing this. I replaced both door jamp mechnanisms that are suppose to shut off the light when the door closes last year...they are pretty much new.
When the door closes the dome light dims down, but stays on.....
anyone have this issue before?

By chance does your horn work?
-
I just checked, Yes the horn works.
-
the lights i think work on a open system at least my 94 does. which means if you unplug the switch the light will go off not sure if our trucks are like that also but it makes sense that if there was a ground in the wires or a short it will trigger the light to stay on
-
So if I unplug both door jamb strikers..for both doors, the light should go off?
-
Normally yes, they should go off, if not then you have a dead short somewhere that is basically by-passing your door strikers. The other thought is 1 or both of your door strikers are faulty, allowing the light to stay on, (as if your door is open)
-
Just want to throw this out there... have you tried turning your head light switch to dim the dash lights? If you turn it too far to bright it'll turn the dome light on, and it'll stay on.

Yeah, I made sure it was not the dimmer switch...It is turned to the off posistion.
My door jamb striker on the passenger side only has one wire going to....is that normal? It has worked the last year correctly with the one wire, but I have always wondered that since my driver door jamb striker switch has two goin to it
-
The 1 wire seems odd, especially if your other door has 2 wires. Have you checked a wiring diagram ? You can find them in the tech section here.
-
One wire is correct. The white wire is the ground side of the dome light circuit.
The second wire on the drivers side switch goes to the key minder buzzer so that you don't lock your keys in. ;D
-
That makes sense, see you can teach an old dog new tricks. ;D

Ive just taken out my dome light, and under dash light out so its not running down my battery. I still have no idea what to do. Is it possible the headlight switch could malfunction and cause this?
-
Since you can turn your headlight switch to the left and activate the lights, I would say there is a possibility that your headlight switch could be the problem.
-
if you unplugged each door switch and the light stays on its either a short or the switch. Try unplugging the switch the check for continuity at the light and switch see if there is any
