good morning:
87 2wd short fleet automatic TBI
the engine idles slightly rough, nothing drastic, the best way i can describe it is almost like a "hiccup" every 3-4 seconds. this is a consistent problem, not intermittent, it is the same weather the motor is hot or cold. other than that the motor runs perfect, no acceleration problems or problems during normal driving. the carb / TBI was cleaned but that did not solve the issue. i have yet to do a tuneup since i purchased the truck. do any of you more experienced engine guys have any idea as to what might be causing that?
thanks

i have the same problem on mine. one thing i was told is a broken valve spring another would be cam problems have yet to tear it down to figure it out so ill be keeping my eye out on this post. I have done full tune ups changed distributors and changed carbs for other reasons but the problem never went away also tore the intake off. Never went any further than the intake though

I had the same problem on my 87. A tune up cured the intermitten missing. The wires may have been the cause of my problem.

mine was doing that. I took the plugs out and there was some serious buildup on them.
